"Thirty Second Doom" is our original film project, which pays homage to the great Republic serials. Still an ongoing work, we offer, for you entertainment and gratification, video tidbits as the film unfolds. There are three different versions of the movie clips available; Windows Media, Mpeg and Quick Time. Please note that video files are quite large and will take some time to load. In some cases, it may be necessary to let the clip play through once in order for it to load completely. There may be some playback hesitation during initial loading process. And now, on to the theater!

Lights! Camera! Action!

In an ongoing effort to avoid entanglements with the local authorities, we decided against using blank ammunition for our first location gun fight. Instead, the actors dry-fired their prop guns and all weapons effects were added digitally in post production. You may recognize some familiar sound effects here; the Republic Pictures "door slam" pistol shot and the infamous "sailor-on-the-log" scream from the original 1933 version of King Kong.

The most essential element of the film would have to be scenes of our hero in flight. In order to create the effects, we used a combination of green screen compositing and exterior shots of our miniature, which was wired up to a run approximately fifty feet long. The horizontal support wires were digitally obscured in post production although, in some shots, they remain partially visible. Listen for the "Tazmanian Devil" sound effect during the take-off sequence.
